The Show Jeopardy!
First aired in March 1964, ‘Jeopardy’ is an extremely popular, Emmy award winning quiz show covering a variety of areas like pop culture, literature, science and history. The show has enjoyed a successful decades long run, including the broadcast on NBC from 30th March,1964 till 3rd January, 1975; then from 9th Septemeber,1974 till 7th Septmeber,1975 in a syndicated version; 2nd October, 1978 till 2nd March,1979; followed by another series which ran up till 10th September,1984.
Merv Griffin has created this show and Alex Trebek happens to be one of the most popular hosts on the series which has had many international versions as well.
Achievements have come in plenty for the show which has won twenty – eight Emmy Awards, creating a record in the category of Best Game Show for which it has received eleven awards. GSN named the show as no.2 in there list of 50 Greatest Game Shows of All Time in 2006. The magazine, Esquire termed it the “favorite game show” of their readers and in January 2001, TV Guide too gave it the second ranking in there version of the 50 Greatest Game Shows of All Time.
The unique ‘reverse quiz’ strategy resulted in catapulting the show to the peaks of success and making it one of the best game shows in the history of television.
