Hey people! Media mogul and TV host Merv Griffin was best known to us as the creator of our favorite game show Jeopardy! However, the man who has been considered to be an entertainment business magnate has more to his credit than meets the eye. Although, Merv died two years ago his name has been kept alive through his vast enterprises, his popular game show Jeopardy and more recently through a book based on his life.
The book titled Merv Griffin: A Life in the Closet has been written by sensationalist Hollywood biographer, Darwin Porter. Darwin is notorious for writing biographical books about dead celebrities, in which he makes outrageous allegations at celebrities without any proof or evidence. He has written such books for Marlon Brandon and Katharine Hepburn and now he has come out with a similar book about Merv Griffin.
The book has been available in bookstores since the 6th May 2009 and Darwin has disclosed things ranging from Merv’s first crush to things like with whom Merv lost his virginity. The books also talks about Merv’s sexuality and even goes on to reveal that the creator of Jeopardy used to maintain a virtual male harem. In short, the book brings to light all the foibles, indiscretions and mattress romps of the media mogul.
According to Darwin, he wrote the book not only because it is his job, but also because nobody had written a book about Merv except the two books the man wrote himself. Darwin has reportedly said that he was fascinated with the man whom he had first met in 1959. At that time Merv had sang for Darwin’s senior prom for $500. But I am sure that Merv must be feeling quite uncomfortable lying in his grave as the book brings out the secrets he had kept so safe throughout his life.
The book is surely is going to interest those who like to peep into the juicy private lives of celebrities. Whether the contents of the books are to be believed or not, depends entirely on individual discretion. And those who thought of him as just the brains behind Jeopardy, the book might provide insight into the life of Merv Griffin.
